Gorilla Conservation Camp – CTPH

A social enterprise of Conservation Through Public Health (CTPH) that promotes biodiversity conservation by enabling people, gorillas and other wildlife to coexist through improving their health and livelihoods in and around Africa’s protected areas and wildlife rich habitats.
To sustain this activity, she has also launched the Gorilla Conservation Coffee brand, an award-winning social enterprise that buys premium coffee at above market prices from local farmers, then processes and sells it as raw green and roasted branded coffee.

Major Achievements

  • Ashoka fellow for innovation and improvement of society’s systems;
  • Hosts approx. 120 clients annually;
  • Has a team of 7 employees;
  • Counts 459 endangered mountain gorillas conserved (representing 43% of the global total);
  • Engaged 500 coffee farmers through 25 model farmers;
  • Winner of US$ 100.000 through St. Andrews Prize 2020 for significant contribution to the environmental issues and concerns with a focus on conservation and community development;
  • Received the World Veterinary Day 2020 Award;
  • Received  the 2020 Aldo Leopold Award from the American Society of Mammologists;
  • Received the Sierra Club Earth Care Award 2018.
