Strengthening Business Incubators

Strengthening Business Incubators in Manica province to improve their assistance to MSMEs

Agriculture is a key cornerstone of Mozambique’s economy, employing over 80% of the population, with a substantial proportion involved in agribusiness micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). Nevertheless, the industry encounters considerable obstacles, such as limited productivity and output, which are further enhanced by the impacts of climate change.

Manica is a province of central Mozambique rich in agricultural potential. Despite its relevance in the country’s economy, there are some major problematic areas, such as poor infrastructure, access to finance, and capacity-building programs.

The action Strengthening Business Incubators in Manica province to improve their assistance to MSMEs seeks to strengthen the services and personnel of local agribusiness incubators in Manica province, in order to improve the business operations of MSMEs specialised in the agricultural sector. This will be accomplished by providing technical support and capacity building and facilitate networking between MSMEs.

Within the project, E4Impact will entail the development of a business incubation program aimed at equipping the entrepreneurs with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to successfully grow their businesses, thereby contributing to the overall economic development of the region.

The project is part of the “Improving the Inclusive and Sustainable Development of Agricultural Value Chains ” initiative, funded by AICS e conducted by UNIDO in partnership with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC) of Mozambique.
