Maria Luisa Inversini

CIRCULAR LABOUR MIGRATION

Maria Luisa Inversini led the Public Order and Security Division of the Prefecture of Milan for many years, deepening her understanding of the impact of migration — especially irregular migration — on security since the early 1990s.

In 2011, she was appointed Chair of the Territorial Commission for the Recognition of International Protection in Milan, a role she held for nine years, representing Italy in international technical working groups. From 2014 to 2020, she served as a liaison between the Ministry of the Interior and the European Union Agency for Asylum, dealing with asylum law, the protection of vulnerable individuals, and regulations concerning regular migration.

Later, as Prefect of La Spezia, she promoted integration projects for asylum seekers and migrant workers, in collaboration with Caritas, Confindustria, and local trade associations.

Her collaboration with the Foundation is, for her, a natural continuation of this meaningful journey, driven by the conviction that migration is an inevitable process that must be managed in the interest of the country and of those who, coming from distant lands, strive for a better life.
