It was held on the 8th of October  2016 the Business Idea Competition of the 2nd edition of the MBA at the University of Makeni in Sierra Leone. This year the event attracted 42 impact entrepreneurs ready to pitch their business in front of a jury of experts to win a scholarship for the E4Impact MBA.

Thanks to the support of Edulink, we were able to offer 5 scholarships: 3 to the top three entrepreneurs of the Competition and 2 to the best woman entrepreneurs.
Here the names of the 3 winners:

  1. Musa Sanu Konteh with his “VES Maize Production and Marketing Enterprise” that strives to empower and install hope and wish for self-development as well as creating employment for youths and thus reducing crimes associated with youth unemployment and frustration. Since 2013, Sanu has been supporting youth and farming groups to cultivate maize and link them to agencies and potentials maize consumers within Bombali district. He is determine to invest in cultivating over 50 hectares of maize farm in Bombali district. This venture will bring on board and support over 100 youths within the production landscape.
  2. Musa Peter Moigua pitching Sowa Sorghum Farmers’ Cooperative Association (SSFCA), an association engaged mainly in the production of sorghum to positively contribute to the socio economic fabric of Sierra Leone, enhancing livelihood, catering for the vulnerable and low income earners and creating employment in the communities within the operational areas.
  3. Eric Borbor proposing a poultry farm called Chicken and Egg Production.

The 2 best women entrepreneurs were:

  1. Cynthia Yatta Abdulai with Gari Production, an enterprise that deals with automatized cassava flour transformation.
  2. Jamie Jusu with her Kindergarten school, an innovative project for children education.

The 40 entrepreneurs selected started attending the MBA with the Initial Boot Camp led by prof. Andrews Ayiku from Ghana. They are now working on their projects under the guidance of UNIMAK Business & Finance Coach Henry Kargbo.
