The Ngo is engaged primarily in four fields:
1. Education: to train young people and make them capable of active and responsible citizenship in favor of their countries, with a particular attention to issues of corruption and sustainable development
2. Fundamental rights: to guarantee health, education and support for those suffering with Hiv/Aids, widows and street children;
3. Peace: to mobilize leaders of different ethnic groups and religions for a non-violent resolution of conflicts, through peace promoting initiatives and interreligious dialogue;
4. Culture: to defend indigenous communities’ identities in Asia and Latin America, towards a development respectful of ethnic minorities and of interculturality.
A commitment implemented according to the vision of a world – common home, where each one learns to celebrate life beyond poverty, violence and corruption.
Magis responds to humanitarian emergencies together with the Xavier Network – most recently providing relief in the wake of Typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines and the Nepal earthquake. Advocacy campaigns are currently underway, including joint action on the issue of conflict minerals with other Xavier Network partners.
«Working together with organizations from other continents, which have so different experiences, helps us to understand how unjust this world is and that having a global vision of change is the most important service the Society of Jesus can offer to the Church and to local communities»Renato Colizzi Sj, Magis President.
